Vehicles were broken into at two Madison fitness centers on Monday morning while the drivers were inside exercising, Madison police reported.
At about 6:15 a.m., officers were sent to a gym in the 4700 block of East Washington Avenue after two cars were broken into while their owners attended a workout class the hour before, police spokesperson officer Stephanie Fryer said in a statement.
At around 7:15 a.m., officers were sent to a gym in the 500 block of Tasman Street after security video showed a car pull into the parking lot, a passenger getting out and trying to break into two vehicles. The passenger then smashed the window of another vehicle and stole a purse.
Police didn’t name the gyms, but Basecamp Fitness Madison East is at 4704 E. Washington Ave. and Wisco Barbell Club is at 539 Tasman St., according to online records.

No arrests have been made.
Police issued a reminder to never leave valuables in vehicles, especially if they can be seen from outside the vehicle.
