WisEye Morning Minute: SCOWIS Complaint

On this episode of Rewind: Your Week in Review, Emilee and JR discuss the Wisconsin Supreme Court complaint involving former director of Wisconsin’s court system, Randy Koschnick against his replacement and the justices who voted to oust him. Koschnick filed five complaints with the Wisconsin Judicial Commission, which is an independent agency that enforces a code of conduct for judges and court commissioners, alleging that the Milwaukee County Judge Audrey Skwierawski, who was appointed to replace him, cannot legally take office until July 2025, because the state constitution prohibits judges from holding nonjudicial offices until their terms end. Judge Skwierawski said she consulted legal experts to ensure she could serve in the position and relied, in part, on an ethics opinion by her former boss, GOP Attorney General J.B. Van Hollen.
