Democrats are once again left pondering how the unthinkable could happen in the race for president. In 2016, the widely held belief was that Hillary Clinton would easily defeat Donald Trump, but the American electorate had other ideas.
Despite a 3 million deficit in the popular vote, Trump won a majority in the Electoral College and was declared the 45th president. This caused widespread weeping, wailing and gnashing of teeth among liberals as the eagerly anticipated celebratory victory parties quickly devolved into the sad reality and wholly unanticipated distress of defeat. Why did Clinton lose? It boils down to three words: “basket of deplorables."
2020 provided Democrats with respite via a COVID-induced victory by hidin' Joe Biden. But his administration brought us economic malaise, soul-sucking inflation, open borders, rampant crime and an equity-based education system that produced mediocre results.
