A woman woke up Saturday morning and found a hole in her bedroom wall and a bullet in her nightstand at her Far East Side apartment, Madison police reported.
Police were sent to the apartment in the 5000 block of American Parkway around 6:20 a.m. Saturday and the woman said a man knocked on her door in the middle of the night, but she didn’t answer because she didn’t know him, police spokesperson Stephanie Fryer said in a statement.
She said she went back to bed, and woke up to find the hole and bullet — and called police, Fryer said.
A neighbor told police a friend was over and dropped a handgun and it accidentally fired, and he went to check on the neighbor afterward, Fryer said.
The investigation is continuing.
