The Falcons were 15-12 last season and finished 8-6 in the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference. But UW-River Falls does have some continuity in the return of its leading scorer, guard Zac Johnson, who scored 16.3 points per game last season.
Its season ended in the WIAC Tournament, falling in a 97-74 blowout to UW-Platteville. One of the players from that Platteville team, guard Gavin Ralph, joined the Falcons as a transfer this offseason. He scored just 1.5 points in 19 games last season, but his presence Wednesday will add another player to the floor coached by a Gard. Wisconsin coach's brother, Jeff Gard, is the Pioneers' coach.
