Shopping for new home flooring can be a frightening experience — but it doesn’t have to be.
Innovation flows through the Coyle family’s business. Founded as a hardware store in 1945 by Edward and Irene Coyle, Coyle Carpet One Floor & Home evolved to sell floor coverings, countertops and cabinetry.
Tom Coyle, general manager, said many consumers simply “walk away” from the massive job of picking out new flooring that fits their home design, personal taste, lifestyle and budget. Coyle is among the third generation operating the family business.
During the company’s annual fall sale from now through Nov. 22, customers can enjoy deep discounts on flooring products. They’ll have a chance to explore the newly renovated “room-by-room” distinctive product showroom.

Power in numbers
Coyle customers enjoy big box store prices because the company is a member of CCA Global Partners, which leverages its 1,200-member strong influence to create the best experiences for consumers.
“Being part of CCA Global means members like Coyle Carpet One have the buying and product management power of big box stores, while being able to offer competitive pricing,” Coyle explained.
The result was switching up product from brand-centric displays to color-driven groupings in the room-by-room format.
“The room-by-room approach curates flooring selections from multiple manufacturers to support customer’s design needs and performance expectations,” he said.
Because display rooms are organized by color tone and family, buyers can easily browse materials like wood, luxury vinyl, tile and carpet. This arrangement allows shoppers to enjoy a more cohesive — and simplified — buying experience.
Visualize new flooring, order samples
Customers can “preview” their choices using a room visualizer phone app. Upload a room photograph and select various flooring choices from Coyle’s website to preview the new floor look. Product samples are also available to customers through the website.
“This allows customers to shop on their terms, on their own hours and to view products and samples before they come into the showroom,” he said.
Coyle said floor coverings are big ticket money decisions, which makes it even more important to get it right. Having samples in the home and using technology to imagine what a new floor will look like takes some of the uncertainty out of the decision.
“It can be overwhelming. Having all the tools available to understand how it will look in their homes” enhances the buying — and success — experience, he said.
